We present to you one of the most incredible Comanche MJ's in existence! This MJ is one of our personal rigs that we planned to keep for a long time, but with new projects and big things to come we have decided to part ways with this one of a kind nut & bolt RestoMod. This Jeep is offered at an incredible value for a high end nut and bolt restomod build of this caliber. Description:
This is a highly modified 1989 Jeep Comanche Pioneer Short Bed with a full top of the line NUT & BOLT RESTORATION. The only original 89 MJ parts left on this Comanche “RestoMod” are the body shell, bed, washer fluid reservoir, and a few interior panels.
This Comanche started as a low mileage, rust free and dent free base to start. To give the Jeep a facelift, a donor 1999 Cherokee provided parts of the interior, door shells, front fenders and grill, along with a few sections of the firewall. The engine is out of a low mile 99 Corvette. Nearly everything else is NEW, and Mopar or GM AC Delco replacement parts, used wherever possible.
This complete restomod has approximately 2,000 miles on it since completion. It even smells like a brand new car. No time or expense was spared by the builder to ensure it felt like something Jeep themselves could have produced, but better.
The body was modified with Notch Customs fender flares, and JCR offroad bumpers, rock rails, and tire carrier. The door jambs were modified to accept the ’99 XJ door strikers and the firewall was heavily modified to accept the ‘99 XJ HVAC, steering shaft, body harness, and brake master cylinder. Functional ’98 5.9L Grand Cherokee Limited ZJ hood vents w/ drip pans were added for engine cooling and Styling.
The Jeep is painted in BMW’s Austin Yellow with black spray-in Bed liner. For the drivetrain, the low mileage LS V8 was thoroughly cleaned up and gone through with new gaskets, seals, stainless steel hardware, harmonic balancer, a Holley high-mount accessory drive, Holley oil pan, and more. Engine cooling is accomplished through a Novak KryoFlow HD Performance aluminum radiator with Novak Triple fan and shroud setup.
Novak Conversions provided the engine mounts and transmission adapter. A new clutch and flywheel were added along with a brand new Aisin AX-15 5-speed manual transmission from Novak. The ’99 XJ’s NP-231 transfer case was rebuilt with all new seals, a new chain, and a Novak slip yoke eliminator.
In the rear an Adams driveshaft sends power to a custom HD Currie Dana 60 with an Auburn e-locker and 4.88 gears. A Tom Woods driveshaft sends front power to a Spicer Dana 44 HD crate axle with 4.88 gears and an e-locker.
Steering is through a PSC steering box and the highly exceptional braking is done by 6 piston Wilwood JK big brakes in the front and 4 piston Wilwood big brakes in the rear, finished in competition blue.
The front suspension is an Ironman 4x4 Fab 4-link with a custom track bar, Clayton springs, ACOS adjustable spacer, and Fox remote reservoir shocks. The rear suspension is a spring-over-axle conversions with new reproduction Comanche leaf springs perched on top of u-bolt eliminator brackets with Fox remote reservoir shocks.
The interior door panels, ’99 WJ Overland steering wheel, and center arm rest have been custom upholstered in leather. Premium heated Corbeau seats, new seat belts, and an Alpine navigation radio/stereo was added with front and rear facing Alpine HD cameras.
A ’98 ZJ overhead trip computer (outside air temp and compass) and sun visors were added with working homelink garage door openers.
The B&M short shifter and custom transfercase shifter are finished off with stainless steel shift knobs. Lastly the ’99 XJ interior has been refinished with SEM black. All interior panels, tub, and firewall are covered with sound deadening dynamat. The HVAC system is completely new and works very well. Two new Mopar keys and working keyless entry remotes are included, as well as an indoor cover.
